Volunteer

Without volunteers, The Children's Village Of Sonoma County would have remained a dream. More than a hundred volunteers assisted Lia Rowley, the founder, to bring her vision to reality. Join us to continue to provide nurturing, stable homes for children in foster care.

Interested in volunteering at The Children's Village of Sonoma County? Please attend a Volunteer Orientation, where you will learn more about The Children's Village and the many different volunteer opportunities available.

Please call our office to find out the date and time of our next volunteer orientation session or check our calender.

If you plan to attend, please let us know and we will also give you directions to the village. RSVP to Barbara Slyer, Volunteer Coordinator at barbs@thechildrensvillage.com

Become a Village Life Volunteer

Participate or lead activities with the children. e.g. crafts, music, art, gardening, etc.

  • Provide tutoring on specific subjects
  • Act as parent volunteer at our children's schools
  • Be an advocate for the child in their school
  • Assist with housecleaning and cooking

Village Life volunteers will need to participate in a basic training about our children, have their references checked and go through background screening.

Provide Clerical and Administrative Help to Staff

Host a House Party

Housewarming parties (brunch, afternoon teas, wine and cheese) have been very successful in helping furnish the houses for the children. Equally successful are gatherings to introduce The Village to members of the community that have not heard about The Village. In both cases, the response has been heartwarming. Materials for your party, custom invitations and a speaker will be arranged for your party.
Please contact Donna at the The Children's Village office (707)566-7044.
